The rescue field guide.

Lead the screen-obsessed crowd from the subway to the green OFFLINE door. Hit the rescue target to unlock the next district.

Pick your intervention.

Crosswalk covers manholes and water for 28 seconds. Cushion catches a dangerous drop. GPS hack diverts walkers around construction.

Tap a matching outline.

Select a tool, then tap its colored target in the city. Blue = crosswalk, pink = cushion, orange = GPS. You have a limited supply. Wrong targets won't spend a tool.

Stay one scroll ahead.

Walkers start after a short countdown. The targets flash when a tool is needed. Crosswalks wear out, so watch their timers. You can place tools while paused.

PHONEOn a phone, the game fits your screen as soon as the page opens. Switch between Rescue tools and Personas. Tap Map to see the whole route, or Close-up for larger characters. Doomscrollers is an original, affectionate tribute to the rescue puzzle games of the 1990s. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any other rescue puzzle game or its rights holders. No lemmings were harmed. Several fictional phones were inconvenienced.

Six campaign districts, a calendar of daily rescues, and one simple ambition: get people to look up.

No accounts, no advertising, no in-app purchases. Your stars and settings stay on this device. Voting on a level or saving a high score sends a little data to us, and we keep it to a minimum.

Stays on your device

Campaign stars, daily rescue stars, your sound preference, your last-used initials, and which levels you have voted on. These live in this browser's local storage. Clearing your site data erases them, and they never reach us.

Sent to us when you vote on a level

The level, whether you liked it, whether you found it easier or harder than it should be, whether you finished it, and how many walkers you rescued. Stored with a one-way hash so repeat votes on the same level replace each other. A second one-way hash derived from your network address limits spam. Neither hash can be turned back into your address, and your address itself is never written down.

Sent to us when you save a high score

Your three-letter initials, your score, rescues, stars, and how long the run took. Initials and scores are public on the board, so pick initials, not a name. Your browser's random identifier is hashed before storage so your best score per level can be replaced. Your rescue recording is checked to verify the score, then discarded.

Page analytics

We count page views and a few in-game milestones through Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not follow you to other sites. To switch it off for this browser, run localStorage.setItem('va-disable','1') in your browser console.

Email feedback

The feedback button opens your own email app with a draft. Nothing is sent until you send it, and then it arrives as an ordinary email.

Where it lives and for how long

The site runs on Vercel and the database is Supabase. Votes and high scores are kept while the game is running. Spam-limit records are discarded within hours of active use. Cleanup runs on each new vote or score submission; if the game is idle, older records remain until the next submission. Ask and we will delete your score: tell us the level and the initials.

This game is for a general audience and we do not knowingly collect anything from children under 13.
